The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Indian Railways, under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, invites online applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Various Posts in Level-1.

The Railway Recruitment Boards, Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have revised the opening and closing dates for online registration and application submissions.
Indian Railways Group A Group B Group C Group D Posts: An Overview
Eligibility Criteria: The candidate must have fulfilled the minimum eligibility criteria, such as the required educational and professional qualifications, experiences (if any), and other important guidelines as suggested in the official advertisement, to be eligible for consideration for said post.
- Educational Qualification: The educational qualification would depend upon the post in consideration; however, some standard qualifications require:
- Matriculation/SSLC (pass in 10th class) or its equivalent.
- National Trade Certificate from NCT or ITI.
- National Apprenticeship Certificate NAC, granted by NCVT, is regarded as equivalent in most matters.
Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 18 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 33 years as on 01-01-2026. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable per government rules.
- Medical Standards: The candidates are required to conform to the stringent medical standards prescribed by the Indian Railways. These prescribe standards of vision, hearing, general physical fitness, and other medical parameters relevant. The due weight shall be given to the detailed medical standards laid down in the official advertisement, including the specific provisions for disabilities of different categories.
- Examination Fees:
- For PwBD / Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class (EBC) as applicable on appearing in CBT is Rs.250/-
- For all candidates except the fee concession categories mentioned above the fee is Rs.500/-
- This fee shall be refunded in due course duly deducting bank charges as applicable on appearing in CBT.

The selection process for Level 1 positions includes an exhaustive multi-stage assessment that tests the candidates' legitimacy, physical fitness, and overall suitability for the arduous jobs they will have in the Railways.
- Computer-Based Test: Computer-Based Test (CBT). At the first stage of screening, a CBT is administered, consisting of questions that test the candidates on general knowledge, mathematics, reasoning, and general science. Here is an outline of what the CBT includes:
- Mathematics: Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, etc.
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn diagrams, Data interpretation and sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, and Statement – Arguments and Assumptions
- General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus).
- Current Affairs: Current affairs, Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, and general scientific and technological developments.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): During the physical efficiency test (PET), all candidates who have qualified for the CBT can appear. PETs are basically fitness tests intended to assess the endurance and standard physical fitness of the candidates. Usually, events like the following are included in the PET:
- For Male Candidates: Another thousand meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds faster than the previous run; Carrying a weight of 35 kg for 100 meters within 2 minutes (without putting down the weight).
- For Female Candidates: Running at a speed enough to cross a 1000-meter barrier in 5 minutes and 40 seconds, lifting and carrying 20 kg of weight for 100 meters and completing the course in 2 minutes (this means not putting the weight down).
- Document Verification: Verification of Document: Document verification will be conducted by aspirants who successfully passed the PET. The verification is in regard to the genuineness and legality of the candidates' academic certificates, age proof, category certificates (if applicable), disability certificates (if applicable), and any other document certified by the overriding authority.
- Medical Exam: In the last selection, they would be put up for medical examination before the railway medical authority, ensuring their competency in meeting the medical standards for designated posts.

- 1/3 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Qualifying Marks – UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (Non creamy layer)-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%.

RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Scheme
The Railway Recruitment Board shall conduct the Physical Standard verification of the candidates through a PET or Physical Efficiency Test. It is to note that only the candidates who clears the CBT shall be eligible to appear for the PET. As per the RRB Group D Notification 2025, candidate up to 3 times of the vacancies will be called for PET. The RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test shall have the following events which the candidates need to clear for being selected.

Male Candidates should be able to lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down & also they should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.

How to Apply: A Detailed Step-by-Step Process:
The process of hiring for RRB Group C level 1 posts is online and specifically through the official website of RRBs:
- Go to Official RRB Website: Candidates must operate the official website of any RRB to which they want to apply. The names of RRBs along with their website can be obtained from the official notification.
- Register Online: Once candidates have entered the official website, new users are supposed to register in the system with their own name, email address, and mobile number, and create a password.
- Fill in the Application Form: After successful registration, candidates can log in and fill out the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and other relevant details.
- Upload Scanned Documents: The applicant must upload scanned copies of his recent photograph, signature, and other necessary documents according to the stipulated format and size.
- Payment of Application Fees: A nominal sum is to be paid for applying to the general category.
