Eligibility Criteria:
General Duty (GD): The candidate must possess a degree from a recognized university.
AND
Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent. The candidates who have completed graduation after the diploma, are also eligible, they should possess a diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.
Technical (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics): Candidate must possess an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace.
OR
Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognized by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE).
AND
Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent. The candidates who have completed graduation after their diploma, are also eligible they should possess a diploma in physics and mathematics.
Selection Process: The selection of Assistant Commandants is based on merit which is based on the performance of candidates in various stages (I – V) of examination. Clearing of Stages I, II, III, IV, and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG.
Stage-I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT),
Stage II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB),
Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB),
Stage IV: Medical Examination,
Stage-V: Induction
Age Limit: Candidates must have attained the minimum age of 21 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 25 years as on 01-07-2025. Candidates must be born between 01 Jul 2000 and 30 Jun 2004 (Both dates inclusive). However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable per government rules.
