Job Description

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body under the administrative control of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India, is the National Standards Body of India and is responsible for activities in the field of Standardization, Product and System Certification, Hallmarking of Gold/ Silver Jewellery, Laboratory Testing etc., in the country. BIS is also responsible for Standardization and Certification at the International level.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) invites online applications from eligible candidates for the post of Scientist-‘B’ in the specified disciplines and categories.

Eligibility Criteria:

For All Engineering Discipline: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent with not less than 60% marks in aggregate.
Candidates must have a valid GATE score of 2022/2023/2024.

For Chemistry Discipline: Candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Natural Sciences or equivalent (in Chemistry discipline only) with a minimum of 60% marks.

Age Limit: The candidate's maximum age limit is 30 years as on 23-05-2025. However, relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per government directives.

Selection Process: Candidates will be short-listed for Personal Interviews based on GATE 2022, GATE 2023 or GATE 2024 Score.

Final merit list: Candidates shall be selected discipline-wise based on merit as determined by the aggregate marks obtained by giving eighty-five percent (85%) weightage to the GATE Score and 15 percent (15%) weightage to the marks obtained in the interview.

Probation Period: 02 Years

Remuneration: Pay Level 10 of approximately ₹1,14,945/-
