    After a wait of 6 long years, RRB has released 1,376 vacancies for different RRB Paramedical Staff positions. The exam date for RRB paramedical 2024 will be published shortly on the official website of Indian Railways. Exam is likely to be conducted in March 2025, though the official announcement about the date is yet to come. As the exam approaches, candidates are gearing up and may have several questions regarding the process. To help, we’ve put together a list of key FAQs to assist with your preparation.

    1. What are the different phases of recruitment process for RRB paramedical examination 2024?


    Recruitment process for RRB paramedical examination involves three phases:

    • First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Document Verification (DV)
    • Medical Examination (ME)

    2. What are the pay levels in CEN 04/2024 for RRB paramedical examination?

    There are six pay levels in CEN 04/2024, ranging from Level-2 to Level-7.

    3. What documents are needed if I have changed my name?

    Candidates who have modified their name should submit a Gazette Notification or any other supporting legal documents during the Document Verification (DV) process.

    4. What items are banned during the examination?

    Candidates are not allowed to bring along things such as mobile phones, Bluetooth, laptops, calculators and all metallic objects like hearing aids, bangles and chains. Breaking this rule will result in disqualification and legal prosecution. Moreover, cloakroom arrangements for safe-keeping may not be available.

    5. How are eligibility conditions verified during the recruitment process?

    Eligibility checking is done after the candidate passes all phases of the exam. If any candidate is declared ineligible at any phase, his/her application can be cancelled, and if appointed, he/she can be dismissed from service.

    6. How will the candidates be shortlisted for DV and Medical Examination?

    Shortlisting will be merit-based in the CBT. Candidates will be shortlisted on a 1:1 basis for RRB paramedical level posts. In case of CBT being conducted in more than one shift, marks will be normalized.

    7. What is the medium of test for CBT?

    CBT will be conducted in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages (viz., Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu).

    8. What is the process for Document Verification (DV)?

    Candidates have to produce original certificates and two self-attested photocopies at the time of DV. Certificates must be in Hindi or English. Delay or failure to submit the documents will lead to the cancellation of the candidature.

    9. How will I be informed regarding CBT and Document Verification?

    RRB will notify the candidates through their respective websites, SMS and email about CBT and DV dates. E-call letters for both these phases will be downloadable from RRB's website.

    10. Is it possible to shift the exam center or date once my E-call letter is released?

    No. Requests to change the date, time, or exam center will not be accepted. Exam center and date indicated on the e-call letter are final.

    11. What is the duration of CBT for PwBD candidates?

    Duration of CBT for PwBD candidates, who are utilizing the scribe facility, will be 120 minutes. Time allotted for other candidates will be 90 minutes.

    12. What if two candidates obtain the same marks in CBT?

    In case two candidates receive equal marks, merit will be decided on the basis of age, and preference will be given to the older candidate.

    13. What do I do if I am unable to present my original documents during DV?

    If you are unable to provide your original documents during DV, your candidature will be lost, and no further time will be provided.

    14. What is the procedure for hiring a Scribe during RRB Paramedical level examination?

    Candidates should choose the scribe facility while applying online. Person representing as a scribe should not be a candidate in the same examination. Moreover, qualification of the Scribe should be one grade less than that of the candidate.

    15. What should I do if I am working in the Government or Public Sector?

    Employees, who are serving in government departments, including Railway/any Government/Public Sector Undertaking employees, shall produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer at the time of processing DV. Their candidature shall be canceled in case of they fail to submit NOC.

    16. How will the Medical Examination be done?

    Applicants invited for DV will be put through a medical fitness test by the Railway Administration to confirm whether they are physically fit to carry out the required duties. Various medical standards exist depending on the job.

    17. What happens after the DV stage?

    On successful Document Verification and Medical Examination, the candidates shall be eligible for appointment on merit and eligibility basis.

    19. Will there be negative marking in the CBT?

    Yes, negative marking will apply at 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer.

    20. Who is eligible to use 'Refund of Fee' facility?

    Individuals who visit the CBT can claim a refund of the fee, less bank charges. Kindly note, modification fees cannot be refunded.  Also, there is no refund for rejected applications or non-attendance at the CBT.

    21. Who is eligible for the 'Free Travel Authority' (Free Railway Pass)?

    Only SC and ST category candidates are eligible for this facility.

    22. How do I get the free travel facility?

    SC/ST candidates who are eligible will be provided with a Free Travel Authority (sleeper class railway pass) along with their City Intimation Slip/e-call letter. They may make a reservation with their caste certificate at the railway booking window using the slip.

    23. What is the benchmark level of disability necessary for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities)?

    They need to have a disability of at least 40% to be qualified as PwBD.

    24. Who is entitled to the Scribe facility?

    Candidates with visually impaired (VI), Cerebral Palsy, muscular dystrophy or a locomotor disability in one arm are eligible to have the Scribe facility in the exam.

    25. Can I apply for RRB paramedical exam if I have undergone LASIK surgery?

    Applicants who have had LASIK surgery are not qualified for Medical Standard B1 posts.

    26. Who is required to generate NOC during Document Verification?

    Ex-Servicemen, applicants already employed in civil jobs, and current Railway employees are required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the DV stage.

    27. What are considered banned items during the exam?

    Banned items include communication devices, electronic gadgets (e.g., mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pen drives, laptops, calculators, smartwatches), jewelry, hearing aids, wallets/purses, belts, shoes, metallic wears and any stationery items like pens or pencils.
