    • RRB Non-technical popular Categories (RRB NTPC)

    • RRB Group D 

    The Group D posts are across seven (7) departments: Electrical, Engineering, Mechanical, Stores, Signal and Telecommunication, Medical and Traffic. The group D posts under these varied departments are: 

    Mechanical 

    • Assistant Workshop: Takes care of coach and wagon maintenance
    • Assistant (Carriage & Wagon): Handles maintenance tasks including brake power certificate, trip schedule, etc.
    • Assistant Loco Shed/Diesel: Takes care of diesel locomotive overhauls
    • Track Maintainer Group IV: Maintaining and repairing of tracks

    Electrical 

    • Assistant Loco Shed: maintains electrical locomotives overhauls
    • Assistant Operations: Maintains and ensures electrical supply
    • Assistant TL & AC: Handles lighting and AC system in trains
    • Assistant TL & AC/ Workshop: Maintains the functionality of the tools and electrical appliances
    • Assistant Traction Distribution: Responsible for maintaining power supply installations and electrical assets

    Engineering 

    • Assistant Bridge: Work in bridge construction, procurement of materials and design
    • Assistant Track Machine: Maintain and Repair tools
    • Assistant Works: Work in rail assets manufacturing and improvement of designs
    • Assistant Works/Workshop: Involved in welding work and manufacturing

    Medical

    Hospital Assistant: Responsible for maintaining medical equipments and providing medical care to passengers

    Stores

    • Assistant Depot: Responsible for procuring and supplying maintenance components

    Signal & Telecommunication

    • Assistant S&T: Involved with interlocking system and provides signals

    Traffic

    • Assistant Pointsman: Responsible for directing trains and operating switches

    Those are the job profiles in the Group D of the RRB exams. Employees in these profiles can later gain promotion to the Group C level through departmental exams held regularly. 

    Preparation Tips for RRB Exams after 12th

    • Stage I- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Stage II - Computer Based Test (CBT)
