What is Scrum?

He has the responsibility of creating, maintaining, and upholding the initial product vision before his team. He has to do this even before the software development team has started working on the project. So it is a job role which requires a great degree of imagination and clarity. As the project progresses, he has to ensure that his team adheres to the product specifications which were agreed upon at the start of the project.

He also represents the customers and the stakeholders in the Scrum team. This means that he has to keep the interests of the stakeholders in particular in front of the Scrum team and communicate them to the team. This way they can design a product or service which meets the expectations of the customers and the stakeholders and thus satisfies them. This is particularly true for the user interface of the product or service. He has other responsibilities in the team too such as refining the product backlog, planning the releases, managing the budget, and attending Scrum events.

What are the CSPO Certification Requirements?

1. Enroll in and attend a CSPO certification training course.

The first step to getting a CSPO certification is to take a Certified Scrum Product Owner online training course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). It is typically a 2 day workshop with a total duration of 16 hours. It teaches one all the essentials of being a CSPO and imparts a lot of practical knowledge to the learners.

The trainers typically illustrate the topics of the course with real world scenarios and case studies, thus helping the learners to develop some hands-on experience as well.

2. Go through the Agile manifesto, the Scrum guide, and the CSPO learning objectives.

The Agile manifesto contains very dense and obscure language and can be quite difficult to read. Nevertheless it is a very important document and all aspiring CSPO candidates should read it at least once. It is filled with very pertinent information about the Scrum philosophy. The Scrum guide on the other hand is a very simple document filled with information about the practical aspects of being a CSPO.

The CSPO learning objectives are a short list of guidelines or principles which will help aspiring CSPO candidates to stay focused on the core aspects of being a CSPO.

3. Accept the CSPO license agreement.

After a candidate has completed the Certified Scrum Product Owner online training successfully, they will receive an email from Scrum Alliance asking them to accept the CSPO license agreement. They should follow the instructions given by Scrum Alliance in the email, click on the given links, and follow the procedure to accept the CSPO license agreement.

4. Fill out your Scrum Alliance membership profile.
5. Get certified again every 2 years to maintain your CSPO certification.

In order to remain certified as a CSPO, individuals have to take a CSPO workshop every 2 years. They have to earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) in this way for a fee of $100.

Is there any certification exam for getting the CSPO certification?

No. At this point of time, there is no certification exam that candidates have to appear for in order to get the CSPO certification. Simply by attending a 2 day workshop by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) they will be awarded a CSPO certification.

Are there any eligibility requirements for getting a CSPO certification?

No, there are no eligibility requirements. However, a basic understanding of the Scrum methodology and the CSPO learning objectives will be beneficial and will enhance the certified scrum product owner online training.
